This series of tours are presented by Tai Kwun Contemporary in collaboration with curator Sunnie Chan, graphic designer Benny Leung, and curator Wu Jianru.

Sunnie Chan is an independent curator based in Hong Kong, with a professional interest in emerging practices of design curating and its contribution to cultural learning.

Previously worked for the curatorial team of CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) at the Mills, Sunnie co-curated exhibition programme “Spinning East Asia I: A Compass in Hand” (2021), “Textile for Food” (2021) and video series “Makers of Hong Kong” (2020-2023). Between 2010 and 2019, Chan worked as an independent curator/researcher and with Gallery 27, a private design gallery in Hong Kong, and took part in projects including “M+ Mobile: Yaumatei” (2012), “Sori Yanagi: The Designer’s Heart” (2015), “Hong Kong Department Store” (2016), “Very Hong Kong Very Hong Kong” (2017) , "Dragon's Delusion" (2018) and “Hello! Ikko Tanaka” (2019).

In 2018, she was a Research Associate for M+ museum on Hong Kong graphic design and the museum’s opening display, and in the same year was selected to the Design Trust/Royal College of Art research fellowship in Design Curation.

She is a founding member of the research group Hong Kong Design History Network, together they co-created the Hong Kong Pavilion “Sandtable” of London Design Biennale 2021.

Sunnie holds degrees from the University of Essex, majoring in History of Art & Film Studies, and the Hong Kong Baptist University in MA Communication.

Jianru Wu is a writer and curator based in Hong Kong. Her research interests lie at the intersection of feminism, the philosophy of technology, nontraditional kinships, and creative institutional practice. She joined the Times Museum and founded the Media Lab in 2019, which is designed within the framework of institutional critique to respond to the current ossification of art institutions. Her writings have appeared on Artforum International, The New York Times Life and Arts, The Art Newspaper, among others. Wu received Asian Cultural Council fellowship in 2017, and Jane Farver Arts Foundation curator fellowship at International Studio & Curatorial Program (New York) in 2019. She is a member of the Joan Mitchell Foundation Advisory Board from 2020 to 2023.

Benny Leung is currently a graphic designer and theatrical artist. He has worked with various performing arts and cultural organisations in Hong Kong.

Benny has set up his own design studio, studio-m. He has received awards such as D&AD Awards, iF Design Award, One Show Design Awards, The ADC Awards, New York TDC Awards, Tokyo TDC Annual Awards, HKDA Global Design Awards, The Perspective 40 Under 40 Awards. His works have been selected for Asia Graphic Design Triennial in Seoul, International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, Golden Bee Moscow Global Biennale of Graphic Design and Asia-Pacific Design.

Benny was invited by the Hong Kong Design Centre to participate in the “Ingenuity Follows Nature: A Poster Exhibition of Asian Designers & Tong Yang-Tze's Calligraphy” Hong Kong Edition in 2012. He also presented his mixed media installation artwork “1982” in the exhibition “In-Between” presented by Hong Kong Museum of Art in 2022. He made response to life doubts and decisions in the age of 40.
