Choreographer and Performer

Wong Pik Kei Rebecca

The female body is a key to fathoming the unknown…opening up secret chambers to explore the self in its stark-naked state. Contemporary choreographer/dancer Wong Pik Kei Rebecca continues her introspective exploration of desires and gender identity with no holds barred. Stories too reluctant or rousing to be told are put into physical narratives. All expectations and repressions in intimate relationships provide insight on why humans are not as free or unfree as imagined. Teetering between pleasure and pain in rope bondage, Under Line contemplates the “nature versus nurture” debates about sex and gender. Regardless of gender, it is time for any human to take back the control of true love from dogmatism. Lovers deserve more options in life—changing the world with one mere act of love at a time.

Wong Pik Kei Rebecca

Dance artist Wong Pik Kei Rebecca graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Questioning stereotypes from a female perspective, her works evoke a revaluation of attitudes by and towards the body, desires, and sex. Wong studied Butoh in Japan in 2015, and participated in the theatre production White Room by Butoh master Yukio Waguri in 2016. She was awarded a scholarship in 2017 from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council to join the Atlas choreography workshops at the ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival. In 2018, Wong participated in Creative Meeting Point: Hong Kong x Barcelona, a residency exchange program over a period of three years with the support of West Kowloon Cultural District. Her major works include When Time Limps, Woman.Body, 19841012, Nook, and Bird-Watching (part of the production The Message Behind the Wall by 198491 commissioned by Tai Kwun) which have been performed in Iceland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, the Mainland, and Australia. The Message Behind the Wall by 198491 from the 2019 Tai Kwun Dance Season won the Outstanding Small Venue Production in the 2019 21st Hong Kong Dance Awards.
