They Do Not Understand Each Other: Wonderland IG Challenge

General

Singaporean artist Chua Chye Teck’s 2008 artwork ‘Wonderland’ displays on a huge wall 500 hundred photos, each sized at 5 × 7 inches, fashioning an impactful and kaleidoscopic visual vista. The subjects of the ‘Wonderland’ photographs—little dolls, toy animals, ornaments, and so on—are discarded items from thrift stores and flea markets. The artist took photos of them in front of a plain background and scaled them up proportionally so that all objects have a similar size and presence when displayed side by side. Since the early 2000s, Chua’s interest and focus have been on found objects and environments that are largely overlooked or neglected. In ‘Wonderland’, the artist further develops and evokes a waning materialistic desire through a collection of ‘useless objects’.

Join our “Wonderland IG Challenge” from now on until September 13, upload a tiny object right next to you and together we create another Wonderland!

How to take part in the “Wonderland IG Challenge”:

  1. Find an object as the subject of your photograph.
