Event Details

The American artist Sarah Morris is bringing her newest film with a site-specific wall painting at the Tai Kwun Contemporary exhibition Sarah Morris: Who is Who from 16th March to 14th April, while the large-scale survey exhibition of the US-born pioneering artist Bruce Nauman, considered one of the most influential artists working today, will be opening on 15th May. This latest Teacher’s Morning invites curators of both exhibitions Tobias Berger and Pi Li respectively to share their curatorial concepts and creative processes alongside an introduction to selected artworks.

Film ETC and wall painting Lippo [Paul Rudolph] presented at Sarah Morris: Who is Who explores the psychology of Hong Kong and inhabitants, as well as the iconic milestones in the city’s architecture and culture. The works document post-covid daily life moments, and feature defining landmarks, including HSBC headquarters, Sham Shui Po’s Electronic Market, and notable residents, such as graphic designer Henry Steiner and actress Josie Ho.

Mounted exclusively for Hong Kong, the survey exhibition Bruce Nauman, meanwhile, celebrates the diverse artistic experimentation by the visionary artist over his six decades of creation. The showcase delves deep into his profound influence on art movements like post-minimalism and conceptual art, impacting a generation of artists around the world and in Asia particularly.

Each curator’s sharing is followed by a Q&A session. Apart from exhibition and artwork highlights, participants will learn about the school-exclusive exhibition offering and programmes.

Teacher’s Morning will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation in Cantonese.

This is a free event tailored for teachers and art educators to expand their art education practices. Please register via the link here on or before 15 March 2024.

After the event, participants are welcome to join the consecutive programme Tai Kwun Conversations: Who is Who — A Dialogue between Sarah Morris and Tobias Berger. The conversation will be followed by a screening of Morris’s film Finite and Infinite Game (2017).
