About Teacher’s Morning & Teacher’s Workshop
Teacher’s Morning and Teacher’s Workshop are Tai Kwun Contemporary’s knowledge-sharing and communication programmes designed especially for teachers and art educators. Through explorations of current exhibitions, meetings with curators, artist workshops, and discussions about art education, we hope to build a platform for the sharing and exchange of contemporary art knowledge, developing effective pedagogical practices in contemporary art together.

Event Details
In conjunction with the exhibitions Kongkee: Warring States Cyberpunk and Green Snake: women-centred ecologies, the curators Ying Kwok and Tiffany Leung will lead a Teacher’s Morning to share the curatorial concepts and creative processes alongside an introduction to selected artworks.
The solo exhibition Kongkee: Warring States Cyberpunk by the Hong Kong artist Kongkee, a.k.a. Kong Khong-chang, reimagines the legend of Qu Yuan, a Chinese poet commemorated annually during the Dragon Boat Festival into a cyberpunk future with animated film Dragon’s Delusion. The group exhibition Green Snake: women-centred ecologies, meanwhile, is inspired by mythological snake figures, including from the Chinese folktale Legend of the White Snake, and taps into ecology in the context of the climate crisis based on the equality of human, nature, and other beings. The group exhibition presents over 60 works gathered from more than 30 artists and collectives from 20 countries.
The afternoon Teacher’s Workshop is led by the artist and educator Kensa Hung. In the three-hour workshop, Hung will guide participants with various ways of plant observation to record and draw selected plants. In order to explore our connection to nature, Kensa’s artistic practice of incorporating the research of animal species and greens into creative works will be introduced. A discussion aimed at provoking thought on the experience follows. Hung will also share his experience of supporting students in developing a visual arts portfolio as an educator.
Teacher’s Morning will be conducted in Cantonese and English, with simultaneous interpretation in both languages. Teacher’s Workshop will be conducted in Cantonese only.
