Tai Kwun Conversations - The Making of National Gallery Singapore

Sushma Goh graduated from the University of Newcastle, Australia. She has more than 30 years of design and project management experience working in Australia and Singapore on wide ranging projects; several of these with a focus on architectural conservation and preservation of built heritage. 

For a period of ten years, Goh helmed the National Gallery Singapore project which involved the adaptive redesign of two of Singapore’s largest and most significant national monuments; City Hall and the former Supreme Court. As Project Director, she organised an international design competition for the design of the Gallery and oversaw the design development, coordination, conservation and construction aspects of the buildings and exhibition spaces. Alongside Goh facilitated the documentation of the building transformation journey through the publication of two books and the commissioning of a documentary. The National Gallery Singapore opened its doors to the public in late 2015.  

In 2016 Goh returned to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Singapore as Director of Architecture to lead her team of architects on the design and delivery of new stations and related transport infrastructure on the rapidly expanding Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network of Singapore. In LTA, her team includes specialists that bring together signage, art, wayfinding and energy efficiency solutions to create an accessible, sustainable transport network that aims to delight the commuters on their daily journey.
