Because Yeung @ Somood
A form of prison labour in the early colonial days, bookbinding remains a vocational training option offered by the Correctional Services to people under its custody. In the past, most of the printing and bookbinding for Government Departments was done in the former Victoria Prison.
In this workshop, paper artist Because Yeung will introduce participants to Coptic stitch binding. One of the oldest and most complex methods of bookbinding, it is celebrated for the artful and meticulous threaded patterns of its book spines. This workshop uses a soft cover suitable for everyday use.
*Participants must be 15 years old or above.
