Designated Saturday of each month, an exciting line-up of established and up-and-coming Hong Kong musicians will gather at Tai Kwun’s Laundry Steps to offer an afternoon of light-hearted music. Curated by singer-songwriter Vicky Fung, an avid promoter of Cantopop, these Saturday afternoons will showcase the best of Hong Kong’s jazz, pop, independent and world music, where you will revisit and discover the musical talents of our city at the unique heritage site of Tai Kwun.


THEME OF THE WEEK: Good Times . Bad Times

In the best of times, we can be who we like. In worst of times, we discover who we really are. When the world’s expectations disappoint us, it is up to us to do whatever we can to create a better versions of ourselves, whether in good or bad times.

Daniel Toh is a singer-songwriter based in Hong Kong. A self-produced artist and a multi-instrumentalist, his music showcases his groove, musicality and mellow, soothing vocals.

He began his musical journey as a musician and arranger in 2019, while finding his own sound and artistry through collaborating with various artists. In early 2021, Daniel Toh released his debut single “With You”, a blend of R&B, soul and pop-ballad.

Enoch Cheng graduated from Berklee College of Music and is both a pianist and keyboardist with RnB, Jazz and Gospel roots. He enjoys incorporating elements of these music genres into his craft and has worked with Chinese Artist including Aska Yang, Ouyang Nana, Leah Dou, Tia Ray, Gareth T, moon tang and more.

Ng Lam Fung is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter from Hong Kong. Starting as a busker when he was in high school, Fung gained invaluable performance experience on the streets through interacting with audiences directly. Now a social worker, Fung hopes that through his music he can help others to find strength and inner peace. In 2019, he debuted his first original single, and has since performed in various events and concerts, such as ViuTV Chill Club Awards & Ronald Cheng Drive In Concert 2021. He has also collaborated and written for various artists such as Alfred Hui, Mirror, Jer Lau, Elisa Chan & Tsang Lok Tung.

Edgar Hung is a freelance musician and multi-instrumentalist who performs, writes and arranges music for theatre and film productions. Having worked with Zuni Icosahedron since 2004, he has also collaborated with theatrical groups such as the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, Chung Ying Theatre and Windmill Grass Theatre etc. Hung’s Musical composition credits include The Bloody Hell and A Bright Dark Night, as well as various movie scores. Apart from pop music arrangements, Hung has also performed at live concerts with numerous singers, including Anthony Wong, Eman Lam, Miriam Yeung, Sammi Cheng, Endy Chow, and Charmaine Fong. Hung is a recipient of the CASH Golden Sail Music Awards, Hong Kong Drama Awards and CRHK Ultimate Song Chart Awards.

MC (Michael Cheung Tin Fu), is a singer from Hong Kong, and known for his participation in the 2019 ViuTV KingMaker 2 singing competition. Michael was awarded with second place as he was an audience favourite, scoring among the highest votes within the competition. He has since founded his own company and has hosted several mini-concerts to sold-out crowds.

Michael signed with Warner Music Hong Kong on 31st December, 2020 and debuted his single "Good Time", which has gained over a million views on YouTube. He has been lamented as Hong Kong’s 2021 most anticipated new artist.
 

Gigi Cheung graduated from the Drama School of The Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts in 2016. A classical piano since her early years, her music style has been deeply influenced by theatre and classical music.

During her study at APA, Gigi became involved in an array of live music performances. She has also crafted music composition for theatres, plays, micro-movies and ViuTV programme series.

Gigi joined the “EarUp Music Program” in 2020 and has partaken in a number of online and live music performances. She also performed at “The 8th Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music)”. Her microfilm Frequency won “The Best Microfilm Production - Bronze Award” and “Best Actress - Silver Award”.

Gigi joined Warner Music Hong Kong early this year and released her debut single “Attitude” in April.
