General

We invite you to join Neon Metropolis Workshop, a collaborative community installation inspired by the Vital Signs exhibition. Conceptualised and led by Colour My World, the visual art workshop is for families to get creative together. Come along as a pair of a child aged above 6 and a grandparent/parent, they might have some special memories of Hong Kong’s neon-lit past!

Pay tribute to our city’s legendary neon masters of the 70s and 80s by bringing your paper-craft building facades to life using fluorescent and neon colours. Contribute your newly-created neon building to become part of the collaborative cityscape installation, Neon Metropolis. As the community effort builds and the installation grows, a dazzling neon city emerges. Hong Kong’s ever-changing landscape is also reflected in the display of Neon Metropolis with newer designs replacing older ones. You will also take home a memento of your arts experience.

Before joining our workshop on the day, make sure you take a walk at the Vital Signs exhibitions to be inspired by the extraordinary craftmanship by the neon masters.

Please book a timeslot through the above link and arrive 10 mins prior to your chosen time at the reception of Vital Signs on Block 01 Floor LG1. Ticketing information: $180 (including one session of workshop for one adult and one child)

Collaborating organisation: Colour My World

Colour My World

In the year 2000, Anna Tam founded the studio in order to give a space for our community’s young creatives to thrive. Since then, Colour My World’s dedicated artist-educators have been promoting creativity through the arts including Fine Art, Digital Art, Performance and Theatre. Our studio engages with the community through our long-term partnership with Art Basel Hong Kong, past involvement in Tai Kwun Contemporary Family Day, school outreach programmes, and collaborations with local NGOs. We regard it a privilege to work with our many young talents who constantly inspire us to stretch and explore the infinite possibilities of the Arts.
