A brilliant collaboration between Hong Kong artists and an award-winning UK opera company

Put on your headphones and immerse yourself in an opera that is innovative and accessible to everyone.

One summer afternoon in a forest, a gamekeeper finds an orphaned fox cub and takes her home for his children. But Sharp-Ears the vixen is no-one’s pet and, as she makes her escape, she embraces life to the full. First staged in Prague in 1924, Janáček’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen is a universal tale: humanity, too, is part of the eternal cycle of nature, and the humour, energy and beauty of Janáček’s music creates a world where happiness and sorrow are just essential elements of the sheer wonder of being alive.

It is one of the best-loved of the 20th-century operas. And now, in this brilliantly original production by the award-winning UK company Silent Opera, using creative technology and in collaboration with Hong Kong artists, singers and musicians, allows you to take part in Vixen’s adventures in the heart of Hong Kong.

Staged across three different locations in Tai Kwun, you are given a pair of headphones to experience this masterpiece intimately while moving through three unique settings, as our Hong Kong singers and players move around you in a fully immersive performance. You will hear the opera being sung live around you, along with the pre-recorded soundtrack heard through the headphones.

There is no need to dress up: instead, enter Janáček’s magical world on your own terms, and join Sharp-Ears on her adventures, right here in Hong Kong.
