Jose “Ze” Ku Ieng Un
An actor, director and teacher, Ku was trained in Singapore’s Theatre Training & Research Programme (TTRP) and received a master’s degree in Theatre Making (Directing) certified by Manchester University. He co-founded the Artistry of Wind Box Community Development Association and the Funny Old Tree Theatre Ensemble in Macau in 2012. He has worked as a drama teacher at the Escola de Teatro —School of Drama — in Macao and as an associate professor of Acting at the Faculty of Arts of Shenzhen University. He was also the project lead on Parade Through Macao, Latin City from 2012 to 2018.
In 2001, Ku and Sam Leong Son U co-created the “takeaway” performing arts event, F’art for U, for the 20th Macao City Fringe Festival. In 2020, Ku also directed We Are (Q)Here, a performance about LGBTQ+ stories in three different spaces in Macao. In 2019, in collaboration with Ma Wai In, Ku created a site-specific performance, Sonia, for the 18th Macao City Fringe Festival. In 2017, he collaborated with Rimini Protokoll on Remote Macau as assistant director, for the 28th Macao Arts Festival. The same year, he performed in The Juggler’s Tale, produced by the Traditions & Editions Theatre Circus. The production was featured as part of Esplanade’s The Studios series in Singapore in 2011. In 2007, he was awarded a commission to direct a production of Kuo Pao Kun’s Descendants of the Eunuch Admiral for the Macau Literary Festival.
Sam Leong Son U
Leong is a core member of PO Art Studio. He graduated from Taipei National University of the Arts, majoring in Theatre Design. As a lighting designer, he was awarded for his directorial efforts for four years running as a student. His works includes drama, dance, concert, exhibition and installation, and more.
Recently, he has featured in a wide range of work, including F’art for U for the 20th Macao City Fringe Festival, 《人人》at Macau Contemporary Dance Exchange Springboard - Local Showcase and My Room with Violet Dance Association. His work, Who We Are?, represented Macau at the International Exhibition of Scenography and Theatre Architecture Prague Quadrennial (PQ) 2019—Section of National Exhibitions.
Austin “Au” Leong Tek Kio
Leong is a member of PO Art Studio. He graduated from the Chinese Culture University, majoring in performance and screenwriting. He is an active performer and producer of drama, dance and music presentations in Macau.
Zoe Lai Sim-fong
Lai Sim-fong graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Practice at University of Exeter, mentored by Phillip Zarrilli in psycho-physical approach. She also has a bachelor’s degree in modern languages and cultural studies from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. As an independent dramaturg in theatre and contemporary dance, she has presented work in Liverpool, Manchester, and Poland. Her recent works include Red, Attempts on Her Life, and Ettiquette with Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, Not the Maids and Testimony by Rooftop Productions, and Remote Hong Kong and 100% Hong Kong by Rimini Protokoll. Works in dance include Nook by Wong Pek Kei, Trinity by Terry Tsang, and Stay/Away by Hook Dance Theatre x Artistree. Lai’s works in visual arts includes Influenzer by Enoch Cheng. She worked as dramaturg at the First Documentary Theatre Festival by Pants Theatre Production and Hong Kong International Black Box Festival at West Kowloon Cultural District in collaboration with Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. In recent years, Lai has actively promoted multimedia presentation events, including SHIFTING by Knowledge Transfer at Tai Kwun. Since 2016, Lai has been working closely with LittleUrbanMountain Design as a creative partner; she is keen to bring theatrical and performative elements to architecture. Projects include: Slow Sculpture at PMQ deTour 2018, Yes Kids Can! Rolling School Project, and Arts Makes Village. Her curated public education project for Tai Kwun: Edible Performance won the Good Design Award Japan 2020.
