General

Kwai Fung Hin Art Gallery proudly present “Infinities Between Ink and Gold – Recent Works of Li Huayi”. Li Huayi is one of the leading Chinese contemporary ink painters. The exhibition will showcase 12 latest pieces of this series, including the new directions of development. Instead of applying ink on a gold background, the artist first draws on a non-gold background and then plates the tree body with gold foil, creating a reverse form of contrast between ink and gold. On the other hand, instead of gold, the artist extends the material application to silver foil, which produces in the painting luminescence akin to moonshine, taking the work one step deeper into the poetic romance unique to the traditional Chinese literati culture.

The guided tour will be conducted by Kwai Fung Hin Art gallery, and is exclusively for Tai Kwun Fans only*. The event will cover how Li Huayi marks the modernity mutation of the great Chinese painting tradition through application of selected Western contemporary thoughts and approaches.
