Raymond Vong X Chau Chin Tung X Mandy Lo

Percussion Trio

Renowned local percussionists, Raymond Vong, Chau Chin Tung and Mandy Lo will hold two performances in Tai Kwun on 21 June and 7 July. The performances offer audiences an eclectic musical treat, chasing away any cases of the Monday Blues!

In the two programmes brought together by the trio will cover the musical genres from classical Western to contemporary and traditional Chinese percussion. Amongst the programme, Overture, a new piece composed by Chau Chin Tung of improvised percussion - will receive its world première at the Tai Kwun Laundry Steps.

Biography

Raymond Vong is the Principal Percussion of the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong since 2013. He received his Bachelor of Music (Honours) and Master Degree in Music at the HKAPA. He has participated in numerous music festivals around the world. Raymond is also a devoted performer of contemporary music and often collaborates with different composers in preparation for their new works with high acclaim. In 2018, Raymond was selected as an “Bravo Macao!” Artist at the 32rd Macao International Music Festival. Raymond is currently a tutor of percussion at the HKAPA, a committee member of the Philharmonia APA, and supervisor of the Macao Percussion Association.

Chau Chin-tung is the Principal Percussion of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Curator of Lo Tung Lo Percussion Group. Chau is frequently invited to take part in various cultural performances. He was commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Festival to contribute in the creation of the dance drama Boombastic Verses. In addition to performing, Chau is dedicated to music education. He held concerts at schools, gave lectures and hosted workshops at the Royal School of Music, the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and City University of Hong Kong. He was an adjudicator at the Hong Kong Drum Festival and Macao Young Musicians Competition.

Mandy Lo is an experienced orchestral player, chamber musician and percussion teacher. She graduated in HKAPA and received her Master Degree in Music with James Blades Award for Percussion and Timpani at the Royal Academy of Music in London. During her study periods, she performed with Asia Youth Orchestra and Canton International Music Summer Academy Orchestra under famous conductor Okka Kamu, Charles Dutoit, etc. She regularly performs as guest percussionist with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Macau Orchestra, etc. Apart from orchestral performances, Mandy is also a devoted performer of chamber music. She is one of the founders of "3+1 Percussion Quartet" and Music Director of Lo Tung Lo Percussion Group.
