Led by local artist Wong Tin Yan and his instructor team, these workshops give participating families an opportunity to make toys or decorative objects together by recycling scrap wood. Woodworking has long been part of the Tai Kwun story as carpentry was a form of prison labour in the 19th century Victoria Prison. Tai Kwun is also a supporter of upcycling, as the facades of its two new buildings— JC Contemporary and JC Cube — are made from discarded wheel rims.
