Rattan weaving is one of the occupational-therapy activities that people in custody undertook in Victoria Prison. This workshop, hosted by local artist Loching Lam in collaboration with the Correctional Services Department (CSD), offers participants a chance to create a rattan bottle of their own – and in the process, gain insight into CSD’s work in recovery and rehabilitation.

*Participants must be 18 years old or above.

*Please bring one clean milk glass bottle (diameter 6-8cm; height 12-15cm).

Loching Lam, the founder of soy sola, learnt rattan weaving in Kyoto with a local artisan before. She started the brand in 2016 afterwards. The brand aims to create rattan products and explore different forms of weaving art. She wishes to preserve the traditional craftsmanship while enriching it with other art forms, hence creating a diverse rattan weaving.
