Rattan weaving is one of the occupational-therapy activities that people in custody undertook in Victoria Prison. This workshop, hosted by local artist Loching Lam in collaboration with the Correctional Services Department (CSD), offers participants a chance to create a rattan bottle of their own – and in the process, gain insight into CSD’s work in recovery and rehabilitation.

The Hong Kong scholar Ackbar Abbas delivers a public lecture on the Second New Wave of Taiwanese cinema and the rendering of time, referencing the event series “I Sing While Walking: Tsai Ming-Liang’s Stories and Songs”. Drawing upon the aural relation between Taiwan and Hong Kong, “Filmic Landscapes” examine how our memories become imbued with the moving images we have watched throughout our lives.

Professor Ackbar Abbas will hold two days of intensive seminars, each lasting two hours, to discuss Second New Wave Taiwanese cinema, as part of the “I Sing While Walking: Tsai Ming-Liang’s Sto-ries and Songs” event series, while delving into mimetic memory creation via cinematographic landscapes.
